Glendalough ("glendalock") and the "Wicklow Way" trail are amazing and worth seeing/doing. Not too far south of Dublin city in the Wicklow Mountains, it's immediately rural and beautiful countryside - the Ireland you've always heard about. I started on the Wicklow trail in the early afternoon and ended at the Glendalough lakes.

The Wicklow way is a diverse trail - sometimes on single lane roads to forest single-track.
All of it beautiful.

My first pint in Ireland. (Right after I took this photo, the woman behind the glass and her husband you can see to the left asked me if I was 'staying with Betty'. I nodded and they said - "well, get yerself over hear and set next to us - I'm Betty's daughter." :) The rest of the evening was a lot of fun!
