A Walk at Killarney Park & Dingle Peninsula

The morning walk was beautiful and only partly cloudy.  But the afternoon was mostly a calm and cool, wet day.  I started mid-morning at Killarney National Park to do a short walk around the lake. The park starts right out of town and is part of the official "Ring of Kerry". The B&B host gave great advise for where to go in the park, which roads to travel on to get to Dingle afterward, etc. They were excellent hosts - another bonus for B&Bs.

The "Kerry Way" - a trail that goes through and over the park to the coast on the Ring of Kerry

My walk was to the 'Meeting of the Waters' - a trail around the lake

An old castle in the park - near Ladies view (for ladies in waiting)

After the park, I drove over and spent the remainder of the day on Dingle Peninsula.  I had a good hour or so - but it because totally socked for the rest of the day. It was really cool in a different way from yesterday... in a - fish & chips, pint, long afternoon nap looking at the mist outside, drive to see beautiful cliffs/seaside views/the color green during some bright moments; then misty rain and another pint and soup, brown bread and celtic music- type way. :)

On the north side of the Peninsula before crossing over and south to Dingle town

Storm blowing in

Connor Pass.  That's a verticle drop off to the right of this one-lane steep road.  Man, this would be cool if it was a clear day. (But, perhaps its best I didn't see!)

West of Dingle, in the country side over to Dunquin (and my B&B)

Looking back toward Dingle area

One...lane...road  (And cool historic rock house). Up and over...

...to an amazing view of the coast and sea... (and Blasket Island in the distance)

After checking in, I ventured out for some pub food. More photo stops along the way...and hardly anyone at these places.  I saw one bus here compared to 50 yesterday.  Yay.

Cool town church - right across from the pub

One of my favorites - it's a bit sweet and smooth

Cool little warm tavern feel

Some misty rain and a nap later, the sky brightened for a little while - off and on:

Cool tiny road/beach detour I would have missed if my GPS didn't tell me to 'turn right'.

Bird on a megalith of Celtic stone age

A beach just north of the Blasket Island Ferry

The steep ferry access walkway - yikes!

Beach view - rugged and stormy coastline

Slea Head Drive - on the way back to Dingle to look for a pint and some music:
